Cargo Review

Cargo is a GTM orchestration platform where technical revenue teams assemble data models, always-on workflows, and AI agents for scoring and outreach.

Cargo positions itself as infrastructure rather than a point tool: instead of buying separate products for enrichment, lead scoring, and outreach personalization, teams use Cargo's four primitives — Data Models, Plays, Tools, and Agents — to build those processes themselves, version-controlled and reusable. This review covers what's actually configurable out of the box, what the credit-based pricing really costs once you go past the included allotment, and who has the technical capacity to make use of it.

Verdict at a glance

Best forGTM engineers and RevOps teams who want to build custom agent workflows rather than adopt a fixed product
Starting priceFree trial (100 credits); paid plans start at $165/month for 1,500 credits (Starter)
Real costIncluded credits run $0.11–$0.06 each depending on plan tier, but pay-as-you-go overage credits cost a flat $0.25 — more than double the Starter rate
Setup speedNot plug-and-play: workflows are assembled via a CDK, CLI, or visual builder, so time-to-value depends on someone building them
Standout featureThe Data Models/Plays/Tools/Agents architecture plus a native Claude Code integration for building workflows conversationally
Biggest caveatNo independently verifiable third-party reviews turned up for this platform as of writing
Third-party ratingNot established — see verification note below

What Cargo is

Cargo sells itself as GTM infrastructure you own and program, not a subscription to someone else's fixed feature set. The building blocks are Data Models (a shared data layer that pulls together CRM, product, and enrichment data), Plays (always-on workflows that fire on live signals like a new intent event or a lifecycle-stage change), Tools (individual GTM functions — an enrichment call, a scoring function — that can be invoked from a UI, an API, or an agent), and Agents (autonomous workers that use those tools to research accounts, qualify leads, and trigger outreach). Cargo advertises use by more than 10,000 users, and names customers including Weights & Biases, Ashby, Descript, and Gorgias.

The pitch is closer to Clay or a workflow-automation platform aimed at revenue teams than to a traditional AI SDR product: you're assembling a system, not turning on a feature.

How it works

Building on Cargo means working with its TypeScript-based Development Kit (CDK), a CLI for deploying changes, or a visual app builder for teams that want to avoid code. Cargo also offers a Claude Code integration, letting teams describe a workflow in natural language and have it scaffolded rather than hand-written. Once built, workflows run continuously against the connected Data Models, consuming credits as agents execute steps, enrich records, or write to storage.

That's different from tools that work immediately after signup: Cargo requires someone to design the workflow logic first. The free trial (100 enrichment credits, 10,000 orchestration steps, 100,000 storage inserts) is a sandbox for that setup work, not a finished product to try.

Cargo pricing (2026)

PlanMonthly priceCredits includedPer-credit rate
Free Trial$0100
Starter$1651,500~$0.11
Professional$2502,500~$0.10
Business$1,19017,000~$0.07
Enterprise$3,000+50,000+~$0.06

The number worth flagging: pay-as-you-go credits purchased outside a plan's included allotment are billed at a flat $0.25 each, regardless of tier — over twice the Starter plan's bundled rate and more than four times the Enterprise rate. A team on Starter that regularly bursts past 1,500 credits a month pays a steep premium on the overage instead of just stepping up a tier, which is worth modeling before committing.

All tiers get the same feature set (Agents, Workflows, Data Models, 100+ integrations, territory management); the differences are credit volume and support level, not capability gating.

What we could and couldn't verify

We checked G2, Trustpilot, and Reddit for independent sentiment on Cargo and could not retrieve accessible, verifiable review data for this specific product at the time of writing — G2 and Trustpilot blocked automated access, and no relevant Reddit discussion surfaced. We're not going to invent a rating or manufacture complaints to fill the gap. Prospective buyers should treat the vendor's own claims (10,000+ users, named customers, credit pricing) as unverified marketing claims until they can confirm them directly with Cargo or find independent reviews themselves.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Genuinely composable architecture (Data Models, Plays, Tools, Agents) rather than a fixed feature list
  • All plans get the same capabilities — no feature gating by tier, only credit volume and support level
  • Native Claude Code integration for building workflows without writing everything by hand
  • 100+ integrations across CRM, enrichment, and messaging tools
  • Named enterprise-grade customers (Weights & Biases, Ashby, Descript, Gorgias) suggest real production use

Cons

  • No independently verifiable reviews found — buyers are relying on vendor claims alone
  • Requires technical capacity (CDK, CLI, or workflow design) to get real value; not usable out of the box
  • Overage credits cost more than double the Starter plan's bundled rate, which can surprise teams that scale usage before upgrading tiers
  • Starting paid tier ($165/month for 1,500 credits) is pricier than simple point-solution alternatives for teams that just need one function, like enrichment or scoring alone

Cargo alternatives

  • Clay — spreadsheet-style enrichment and workflow building with a similar assemble-your-own-system philosophy, more oriented around data-provider waterfalls.
  • Relevance AI — closer fit for building a team of AI agents specifically, with less emphasis on the underlying data layer.
  • n8n — general-purpose workflow automation adaptable to GTM use cases, larger community, no GTM-specific primitives.
  • Bardeen — browser-based task automation, lighter-weight than Cargo's full data-model approach.
  • Apollo — a turnkey prospect database plus sequencing and light automation, for teams wanting a working product rather than a kit to build one.

Who should use Cargo — and who shouldn't

Good fit: GTM engineers and RevOps teams who already think in terms of data pipelines and want a programmable layer under their CRM, rather than another dashboard; organizations with the technical staff to design and maintain Plays and Agents over time.

Poor fit: small teams or solo founders who want a single working feature (just scoring, just enrichment, just outreach) without building anything; anyone who needs proof from independent reviewers before buying, since that evidence isn't publicly available yet; teams without engineering or ops resources to own the build-and-maintain cycle a platform like this requires.
