CloseFactor Review

CloseFactor was an AI account-research and outreach platform that shut down in June 2024; here's what it offered, its last pricing, and active alternatives.

CloseFactor is listed in directories like this one as an account-research and AI-outreach platform, but the most important fact to know going in is that the company shut down. This review covers what it used to do, what it cost, and what to use in its place.

What is CloseFactor?

CloseFactor was a go-to-market platform that combined account scoring with AI-written outreach. It used machine learning on a company's closed-deal history to rank which accounts looked like the best fit, then used LLMs to research live buying signals (hiring, funding, tech-stack changes) so reps could tell which of those accounts looked actually in-market right now. A companion feature, SmartSend, generated first-draft outreach copy for recommended contacts based on what had worked in past deals.

The company's own shutdown notice, published June 11, 2024, says it closed operations after failing to hit its growth and retention targets, citing a go-to-market software market that shifted faster than it could keep up with. The vendor site itself still displays this notice at the top of every page, alongside the original marketing content and pricing, left up as an archive rather than an active storefront.

How it worked (historical)

CloseFactor connected to a CRM and outreach tool — Salesforce, Outreach, Salesloft, or Marketo — plus LinkedIn and Slack for alerting. Once connected, its GTM Planner ranked accounts on a heatmap by fit and readiness, its research layer surfaced signals per account, and SmartSend drafted messages a rep could edit and send from their existing sequencer. None of this is operable today; there is no active signup flow to test.

CloseFactor pricing (last published, pre-shutdown)

PlanPriceWhat it included
StarterFreeAccount plans, alerts, GTM Planner, no contact data
Pro$25/user/monthAdds email-only contact enrichment and SmartSend; alert refresh once a year
Enterprise$50/user/monthUnlimited access, email and phone contact data, quarterly refreshes, RBAC/SAML SSO

These figures come directly from the archived pricing page and are included here for historical reference only — there is no current checkout, trial, or sales contact that results in an active account.

What we could and couldn't verify

We found no accessible independent reviews to analyze. CloseFactor's G2 profile page returned an access-blocked response rather than loadable review content, and with the company inactive for two years, meaningful new Reddit or Trustpilot discussion is unlikely to exist. The vendor's own announcement names past customers, including Chronosphere, Render, Grafana Labs, LaunchDarkly, Tigergraph, and Zuora, and claims pipeline-quality improvements from its use — those are the vendor's figures from before shutdown, not something we independently confirmed, and we are not treating them as a rating. In short: no independent, sourced sentiment data exists for this tool, and we are not fabricating any to fill the gap.

Pros and cons (as the product existed)

Pros

  • Combined account scoring and message drafting in one workflow, rather than two separate tools
  • Native integrations with common CRM/engagement stacks (Salesforce, Outreach, Salesloft, Marketo)
  • Named enterprise-tier customers (Grafana Labs, Render, Chronosphere) suggest real usage at some point

Cons

  • Discontinued since June 2024 — not a usable option today
  • Pro-tier contact refreshes were capped at once a year, thin for fast-moving lists
  • No independently verifiable review record to weigh against the vendor's own claims

Alternatives to CloseFactor

Since CloseFactor isn't operating, any current search for "account intelligence with AI outreach" should go straight to active vendors:

  • ZoomInfo — the broadest B2B contact and intent-data platform; heavier and pricier, but actively maintained with a large data footprint.
  • Apollo — combined data, enrichment, and sequencing in one tool; a common budget-friendly substitute for teams that liked CloseFactor's all-in-one shape.
  • Clay — research and enrichment automation with AI-drafted personalization, the closest match to CloseFactor's "research plus AI message" pitch.
  • 6sense — account-level intent and buying-signal detection at enterprise scale, closer to CloseFactor's readiness-scoring angle.
  • Keyplay — ICP fit-scoring and account prioritization for teams that mainly wanted the ranking/heatmap piece.

Who should use CloseFactor — and who shouldn't

Nobody should sign up for CloseFactor today — there's no account to create. Teams that liked its pitch (fit-scored accounts plus AI-drafted outreach in one place) are better served evaluating Clay or Apollo for that combination, or 6sense/ZoomInfo if intent data at scale matters more than message drafting. If your team was a former CloseFactor customer working through a migration, the vendor's shutdown notice indicates support is/was available during the transition — but plan on picking a permanent replacement soon regardless.
