Freshworks Review

Freshworks sells AI-assisted helpdesk, ITSM, and CRM software under the Freshdesk, Freshservice, and Freshsales names, priced per agent per month.

Freshworks built its reputation as the alternative to eighteen-month enterprise software rollouts: a family of AI-assisted products, Freshdesk for customer service, Freshservice for IT service management, and Freshsales for CRM, sold separately but sharing the same Freddy AI layer and the same pitch of faster time-to-value. This review focuses mainly on Freshdesk, the most established of the three, since it's where Freshworks publishes the clearest current pricing, and notes what's confirmed versus unconfirmed on the sales and sentiment side.

What kind of tool is Freshworks?

Freshworks is a business software vendor, not a single tool. It sells three separate products under one company: Freshdesk (helpdesk and customer service ticketing), Freshservice (IT service management — incidents, changes, problems, releases), and Freshsales (CRM with pipeline and engagement tools). All three now route through Freddy, Freshworks' AI layer, which handles ticket summarization, deal-insight suggestions, and increasingly autonomous resolution of routine requests rather than just flagging them for a human.

The company markets itself against both ends of the market: cheaper than the Salesforce/ServiceNow tier, more capable than a la carte point tools. Whether that holds depends on which of the three products you're buying, since each has separate pricing and features.

How it works

Each product is a standard SaaS signup: pick a tier, pay per agent per month, get access immediately with a free trial (14 days for Freshservice, 21 for Freshsales). Freshdesk's Growth tier includes a working Freddy AI Agent from day one rather than gating AI behind the top plan, which is a genuine point of differentiation versus vendors that reserve AI features for enterprise pricing. Higher tiers layer on routing logic, multilingual support, custom reporting, and eventually compliance features like audit logs and IP allowlisting.

Because the three products are priced independently, running both Freshdesk and Freshsales means two subscriptions with two agent counts, not one seat. Freshworks doesn't publish a bundled cross-product discount, so budget separate line items per product.

The line item to budget for across all three products is the AI add-on layer: Freddy AI Copilot at $29/agent/month, and extra AI Agent sessions at $49 per 100. Base tiers advertise AI as included, but the metered session cap means an active support team can blow through it and land closer to Freshworks' next tier up in practice.

What we could and couldn't verify

We fetched Freshworks' own pricing pages directly and confirmed the Freshdesk and Freshservice tiers above from the vendor. We were not able to pull a current, load-bearing third-party rating for this review: G2, Trustpilot, and Capterra all blocked direct access during this research pass. Freshworks is a large, long-established vendor with a substantial public review footprint on those platforms, so ratings and complaint themes almost certainly exist — we simply don't have a verified, current number to cite honestly, and we won't guess one. If you're evaluating Freshworks seriously, check G2 and Trustpilot yourself and read a handful of recent one- and two-star reviews for pattern complaints before buying.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • AI (Freddy) is included from the entry tier on Freshdesk, not gated to Enterprise
  • Three products cover service, ITSM, and CRM under one brand, useful if you want one vendor relationship
  • Transparent, self-serve pricing pages with no forced sales call for lower tiers
  • Free trials on all three products

Cons

  • AI session caps on base tiers push real cost above sticker price for active teams
  • Freddy AI Copilot and extra AI sessions are separate paid add-ons on top of the plan price
  • No published cross-product bundle discount — running Freshdesk and Freshsales together means two full subscriptions
  • Freshsales pricing detail is less transparently published than Freshdesk or Freshservice

Freshworks alternatives

  • Zendesk — the closest direct competitor for helpdesk/ticketing, generally priced higher per agent but with a longer enterprise track record.
  • Zoho One / Zoho Desk — the broadest low-cost suite comparison, covering service, CRM, and dozens of adjacent apps under one subscription.
  • HubSpot Service Hub — stronger marketing/CRM integration for teams already on HubSpot, typically pricier at comparable seat counts.
  • ServiceNow — the enterprise ITSM incumbent Freshservice positions itself against on price and setup speed, but ServiceNow has far deeper enterprise workflow depth.
  • Salesforce Service Cloud / Sales Cloud — the default enterprise comparison for both the service and CRM sides, more expensive and typically slower to implement.

Who should use Freshworks — and who shouldn't

Good fit: mid-market support or IT teams that want a working AI layer without paying enterprise-suite prices; organizations open to running multiple Freshworks products as separate subscriptions in exchange for one vendor relationship; teams that value self-serve signup and a real free trial over a sales-led evaluation.

Poor fit: teams needing one consolidated seat across service, ITSM, and CRM (Freshworks bills separately); high-volume AI users who'd rather have unlimited usage than a metered session cap; buyers who won't purchase without checking G2/Trustpilot themselves first, since we couldn't verify a rating here.
