Koala Review

Koala was an intent and account-scoring platform for B2B sales teams. It was acquired by Cursor and shut down on Sept 30, 2025 — it is no longer available.

Koala built a name in the product-led-growth world as an intent and visitor-identification platform: it unified first-party product signals with third-party intent data, scored accounts on fit and intent, and let reps research and email high-intent companies without leaving the tool. That history matters mostly in the past tense now. As of this writing, Koala is discontinued — the company was acquired by Cursor (the AI coding editor) and the product was wound down on September 30, 2025. This review documents what Koala was, what it cost, and where to look instead, for anyone who lands on this page still hunting for a live signal-scoring tool.

What Koala was

Koala positioned itself as the layer that told sales and marketing teams which accounts to work right now, rather than working a static list top to bottom. It pulled in more than 30 signal sources and enrichment providers, combined website/product activity with third-party intent data, and produced a fit-and-intent score per account. An "Agent Swarm" feature (a set of configurable AI agents) ran deeper research on qualified leads automatically, and teams could replay winning sales plays to see what worked and repeat it. It counted Vercel, Retool, Sanity, Dolby, and Deepgram among its customers — a roster that skewed toward developer-facing, product-led SaaS companies, which was Koala's clearest niche.

What happened to it

Koala's own site still carries a banner reading "Koala has been acquired by Cursor and will be shutting down on Sept 30," linking to a founder blog post dated September 25, 2025. In it, the founding team (Tido Carriero and co-founders) describe joining Cursor to work on enterprise go-to-market for the code editor, citing Cursor's adoption inside a majority of the Fortune 500 as the draw. The post says only that the team worked to ensure "Koala customers found a good home" before the shutdown — it does not name a migration partner or spell out what existing customers were meant to do with their data or workflows. This was a talent acquisition (an acqui-hire) rather than a product acquisition: Cursor did not continue operating Koala's product.

Historical pricing (last published before shutdown)

Koala's pricing page was still live at the time of writing, showing legacy plans:

PlanPriceSeatsCredits/moNotes
Try for Free$021001-month data retention
Starter$200/mo21,0001-month retention, email support
Growth$1,000/mo35,0003-month retention, round-robin routing, 1,000 webhooks/mo
BusinessCustomCustomCustomDedicated CSM, Slack channel

One detail worth flagging for the record: Koala's own plan comparison listed "Find/Enrich Customers," "Prioritize by Intent," and "Customize Outreach" — arguably the core of the product — as available only on Growth and Business, while the same page's plan summaries claimed "all features included" on every tier. That inconsistency was never something we could resolve from the public page; it reads as a pricing page that wasn't cleaned up before the shutdown. None of this is actionable now since the product isn't sold, but it's a reminder that these were never simple flat-rate plans — the effective entry price for the features Koala was actually known for was $1,000/month, not $200.

What we could and couldn't verify

We could confirm the shutdown directly from Koala's own site banner and founder blog post, and the last-published pricing from its still-live pricing page. We could not pull an independent third-party rating: Koala's G2 reviews page returned a 403 (G2 blocks automated access, and per our sourcing rules we don't fight bot walls to scrape it), and a live search for Reddit or Trustpilot sentiment wasn't available in this research pass. So there's no independent review data in this write-up — if you find G2/Trustpilot numbers elsewhere, treat this page's silence on ratings as a gap, not a claim that reviews don't exist.

Pros and cons (as the product existed)

Pros

  • Combined first- and third-party signals in one score instead of forcing reps to cross-reference tools
  • AI-driven account research (Agent Swarm) reduced manual prep work
  • Play-level analytics tied outreach tactics to actual conversion outcomes
  • Real, recognizable PLG customer base (Vercel, Retool, Sanity, Dolby, Deepgram)

Cons

  • Core scoring/enrichment features were effectively a $1,000/month product, not the $200 entry price
  • Plan documentation was internally inconsistent about what each tier included
  • Discontinued as of September 30, 2025, with no clear stated migration path for existing customers
  • No independently verifiable review base to weigh against the vendor's own claims

Alternatives now that Koala is gone

Teams that were evaluating or using Koala for account-level intent and fit scoring have several active options to look at instead:

  • 6sense — established account-based intent data and predictive scoring platform, enterprise-oriented.
  • Warmly — website visitor identification and intent signals aimed at PLG and mid-market GTM teams, a closer stylistic match to Koala's original niche.
  • RB2B — person-level website visitor identification, popular with smaller outbound teams wanting a lighter-weight signal source.
  • HubSpot Breeze Intent Data (formerly Clearbit, acquired by HubSpot in 2023) — enrichment and intent signals now folded into HubSpot's platform.
  • Apollo.io — primarily a contact database and sequencer, but its intent-data add-on covers some of the same prioritization use case.

None of these is a drop-in replacement for Koala's exact combination of Agent Swarm research and play analytics — that specific feature set left the market with Koala.

Who should use Koala — and who shouldn't

There is no current "who should use it" answer: Koala does not accept new or existing customers. If you're reading this because you saw Koala referenced in an older blog post, comparison list, or your own notes, treat this as an obituary rather than a buying guide, and start your evaluation with the alternatives above instead.
